Current students

Josephine’s teaching philosophy comes from her varied musical education with some of the finest teachers in the world. The primary goal is to teach students to become self-sufficient, thoughtful musicians. Students are expected to be able to read music and have a basic understanding of musical theory. There is a heavy emphasis on proper technique, including posture, instrument and bow holds, and left hand shape. There is also a strong emphasis on individual musical expression.

If time allows, Josephine is always happy to go over any additional materials that students might require help with from school or youth orchestras.

All students are expected to participate in the end-of-the-year recital, usually scheduled in the early part of June.

Current students are expected to come to lessons fully prepared, with all materials.  Repeated lack of preparation for lessons will result in termination at the teacher’s discretion.

All cancellations must be made by phone. Any cancellations made in less than 24 hours will not be rescheduled.
